Give me liberty or give me….a Convention of States!

American history is in the making with the Convention of States Project.  I just got off a conference call with the COS organizers and there are amazing things going on that will give you hope for America. I think we all, regardless of political party, can agree that it has become necessary to rein in the federal government and bring the power back to the people. Like I explained in my previous blog, Unconventional Convention, this project revolves around everyday people getting involved. Whether signing the petition, community organizing as a volunteer, emailing state legislators, hosting viewing parties or making a simple donation, you will have a direct effect on the success of this much needed project.  Currently there are over 1.5 million people across the country already involved or that have showed interest. The Convention of States Facebook page alone has over 750,000 likes and COS has the largest Article V caucus in America with 240 members.

The simulation for the actual convention will be in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia on September 22-23.  The goal is to have 3 state representatives from each state attend, for a total of 150 commissioners. All 50 states are already onboard to participate at the simulated convention. This convention will be historic. There will be guest speakers like Rob Natelson, an expert on the Constitution and Article V, as well as, Patrick Henry and James Madison, who have come back from the dead to speak at the convention (well professional impersonators at least). There will be live feed and live Facebook updates on the COS Facebook page through out the day. You will also be able to comment and give feedback on what amendments you would like to see proposed.

So how can you be part of history in the making? As I said before, the success of the COS project starts with us. There is no Convention of States without a grassroots army of people across the country that care about our freedom, liberties and the desire to stop Washington’s abuse of power and corruption.

So here are things you can do:

  1. Go to the COS webpage and learn what it is, read about Article V  and sign the petition.
  2. Sign up to volunteer, email your state legislators and spread the word as much as possible.
  3. Host a viewing party of the convention simulation for people you know that would be interested in the project. (Email me or comment if you would like to attend mine).
  4. Donate. This large of a project takes money. Every little bit helps and gets you personally involved in this historical event that will save our country.

I’ve attached links throughout this article so that you can get the information you need. Please email or comment if you have any questions and I will get back with you.  If you love our country as much as I do and are concerned in the direction we are heading, then please get involved with the Convention of States Project. Together we can save America for future generations.
